Motor Dromes

Here we will bring you historical pictures of Dromes and their riders; Pages on  different shows, acts, Lion Dromes, etc. I hope to have this on its way to being as complete as the  old site very soon...

Motor Dromes are the direct descendant of the old wooden board racetracks. These were shut down in 1929 due to public outcry as result of so many accidents and so many beloved riders being injured or killed. Pictures below taken from Stephen Wright’s book “American Racer” Vol.1.

I am remaking and adding to this site every day - in the meantime - Be sure to check out www.thewallofdeath.com by Allan Ford in England for more on this wonderful sport!

Below Left: One application for taking up a lion cub! (circa 1928).
